International strategy and security draws on political science, international relations, maritime and strategic studies to offer students an interdisciplinary major that prepares them for a wide variety of opportunities related to security in all forms including national/homeland, international, human, environmental, economic and energy, among others.

The marine transportation (MT) major provides you with a broad understanding of the maritime industry, as well as navigation and ship-handling skills.

Math and science-intensive coursework and hands-on experiences give you the skills you need to work in a variety of positions in the research, design, development, and evaluation of engineering systems. New concentrations this fall include Energy Design and Mechanical Design.

Facilities Engineering Technology

The facilities engineering technology (FET) coursework, simulator trainings, and internships prepares you to work in the operation and maintenance of engineering systems such as those found in power generation plants, universities, hospitals, stadiums, and high-tech manufacturing facilities.

Marine Engineering Technology

The marine engineering technology (MET) coursework, simulator trainings, training cruises prepares you to work as a licensed third assistant engineer on U.S. ships on any ocean regardless of tonnage, horsepower, and size. This major also prepares you to work to have a career in shore-side industries.

Oceanography

Oceanography capitalizes on our location on the shores of the SF Estuary, the largest on the west coast. Committed to ocean literacy and sustainability, the program is rooted in ocean observation, life sciences and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CURE).
