( Old Business None ( CCR 01/03-01 Add GMA 390 Independent Study to the list of electives for the GSMA minor. After discussion by the Committee, Mark motioned for approval; Bob seconded the motion. The addition of GMA 390 Independent Study to the list of electives for the GSMA Minor was unanimously approved (8-Yes/0-No). ( CCR 01/03-02 Change SOC 220 Perspectives on Leadership from a CR/NC course to a graded 3-unit course that fulfills state requirements. The Committee expressed approval of the course but it should be treated like a new course instead of a revision. The Curriculum Change Request was returned to Rene Viargues, General Studies Chair so that a full course proposal with a syllabus could be written and then submitted at a future Curriculum Committee meeting. ( CCR 01/03-03, 04, 05 Delete EPO 214L Boilers Lab, EPO 312L Turbines Lab, and EPO 323 Steam Plant Simulator from the MET, FET, and ME curriculum. EPO 230 Steam Plant System Operations and EPO 235 Steam Plant Watch Team Management will replace the three courses. Class enrollment will be reduced to six students per lab. In the MET and FET curriculum, the new classes will be offered back-to-back in the fall and spring semesters of the sophomore year so time wont be wasted on refreshing students memories. In the ME curriculum the new classes will be offered in the spring of the sophomore year and the fall of the junior year. All three degree programs will be reduced by one unit. Jim motioned for approval; Nader seconded the motion. The unanimous vote was 8-Yes/0-No. ( CCR 01/03-6 New Leadership Minor. As proposed, the leadership minor would consist of business courses that contain leadership topics. Business majors cannot use this as a minor. After the new course, Perspectives on Leadership, is approved, it would be the one course that would be taken by all students wanting the minor. The proposal was sent back to the General Studies Department for re-writing. The format of the minor needs to be ready for publication in the new catalog. ( CCR 01/03-07 Change units from unit to 1 unit for DL 100 Small Craft Operations. unit for a 3-hour STCW component lab is not enough. This change will bring the course in line with other courses on campus. Mark motioned for approval; Bob seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous (8-Yes, 0-No).
