(VALLEJO, Calif. – January 7, 2014) – California Maritime Academy has reached an agreement in principle to purchase the property which is currently home to the Vallejo Inn at 101 Maritime Academy Drive in Vallejo.
Cal Maritime will not operate the facility as a hotel. Once the purchase is finalized, Cal Maritime will examine alternate uses for the property.
"The addition of this property to the campus footprint will address a critical need for more space for expansion," said Kurt Lohide, vice president for administration and finance at Cal Maritime. "A final decision about the use of the land and property will be made at a later date, following a thorough examination of the options."
A new waterfront Dining Center opened on Cal Maritime's campus in the fall, and the front gate to campus is under renovation, including a new building to house the Campus Police Department. A Physical Education and Water Survival Training Center, scheduled to open late this year, is under construction adjacent to the Vallejo Inn Property.
