(VALLEJO, California August 8, 2016) 天美视频's Training Ship Golden Bear is returning to the state Wednesday morning. Students from Cal Maritime, Texas A&M Maritime Academy, and other schools are completing the second of two two-month long summer training cruises.

Students, faculty and crew departed Cal Maritime's Vallejo, California campus on April 24 for the Panama Canal. In addition to Los Angeles, the itinerary for the training cruises includes stops in the Fort Lauderdale, U.S. Virgin Islands, Baltimore, Puerto Rico, New York, San Francisco, and Charleston, South Carolina.
The first cruise ended on June 22 in Galveston, Texas, when new crew, students and faculty board the ship for the second cruise. The ship returns to Cal Maritime in Vallejo, California on August 22.
The annual training voyage is part of the specialized curriculum offered at Cal Maritime. For the duration of each summer training cruise, Cal Maritime cadets are responsible for running the ship, including navigating and driving, repairing and overseeing the engines, and maintaining the vessel. All training cruises are supervised by Cal Maritime faculty, the ship's captain and chief engineer, and a team of experienced mariners. During the cruise, cadets continue to attend classes, and intellectual learning, applied technology, and leadership development blend daily as cadets apply what they have learned in the classroom, in the lab, and on the waterfront.
