(Vallejo, California – March 7, 2019) – The eighth annual Women in Maritime Leadership Conference is set for March 15-16 on the campus of ÌìÃÀÊÓƵ University Maritime Academy.
 
The event is open to all and features programming for college students, recent graduates, and professionals. Women in Maritime Leadership offers opportunities for leadership development and productive networking for women in maritime and related fields and those who support them. 
 
The conference starts on Friday, March 15 at 9:30 and offers a robust program on maritime culture and trends, the many facets of leadership, and developing self and others on a team.
 
Captain Jennifer L. Ellinger of the U.S. Navy will speak at the Friday dinner. Kristina Bowden, president and owner of West Coast Resource Services, Inc. – a consulting firm specializing in occupational safety and health for terminal and stevedore operators – will address the group at Saturday's lunch program. 
 
Saturday keynote speakers are three accomplished Cal Maritime alumnae Tosca Pinder ('10), maritime producer at ABD Insurance and Financial Services; Amanda Wallace ('06), marine superintendent, U.S. Flag and Lightering Fleet at Chevron; and Sheila La Fleur ('02), owner of Trackline Search Partners providing recruiting and consulting services for clients in the shipping and transportation industries.
 
Ally Cedeno, founder of Women Offshore and a 2008 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is the program's closing speaker. Cedeno is a licensed chief mate of unlimited tonnage vessels and dynamic positioning operator for Transocean. Women Offshore shines a light on women in operations, provides resources to foster long-term careers, and shares the latest efforts on gender diversity and inclusion in the offshore and maritime industries.
