Message from the President
July 28, 2021
Dear Campus community:
In keeping with the 天美视频 University (CSU) system鈥檚 COVID-19 announced yesterday, I am writing to let you know that effective immediately Cal Maritime will require all cadets, staff, and faculty to certify that they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. The deadline for certifying your fully vaccinated status is August 31st, the start of our academic year. Those who do not certify their vaccine status by that date will be unable to gain access to campus.
We will be providing details about how you can upload your vaccination certification in a later communication. For now, I wanted you to have the information about the new requirement as soon as possible so you can plan accordingly.
Faculty and staff requesting an accommodation should contact Kristen Bautista in Human Resources at x1146 or kbautista@csum.edu; cadets should contact Siobhan Case in Disability Services at x1561 or scase@csum.edu. Accommodations must be requested and approved on or before August 31st. In accordance with state and local public health recommendations for colleges and universities, Cal Maritime will implement a testing program for any unvaccinated Cal Maritime cadets, staff and faculty in order to detect, monitor, and mitigate cases of COVID-19 on campus.
All other protocols relating to COVID-19, including those outlined in Friday鈥檚 email to staff and faculty about masking and the daily health check remain unchanged.
Please visit the campus COVID-19 webpage for more information, updates and links to vaccine locations. Faculty and staff with further questions about the vaccine requirement can reach out to the Health and Safety Task Force (cdawson@csum.edu) and cadets who need assistance can contact healthcenter@csum.edu.
Working together, we can ensure a safe and healthy start to our in-person academic year. Until then, please enjoy the rest of your summer.
In service,
Thomas A. Cropper
