DAT 108: Foundations of Data Science
DAT 108: Foundations of Data Science
This course will teach you the fundamental skills required for working with data. You'll learn how to wrangle and tame massive amounts of data which to the human eye will be an inscrutable table of numbers and information, and learn how use computation and techniques from statistics and mathematics to gain valuable insights and discover patterns within the data that you can use, no matter your goal.
This class is paired with a lab section DAT 108L that provide some hands-on experiences working with data. You will explore a variety of applications and use the techniques you learn from the main class in real-world settings of interest.
Prerequisites:
MTH 100 (or equivalent) with a grade of C- or better.
MTH 107 (or equivalent) with a grade of C- or better.
FOR SPRING 2025 ONLY: MTH 107 can be a co-requisite for DAT 108, meaning that you can take DAT 108 at the same time that you take MTH 107.
