This morning we arrived in Honolulu and cadets were on deck manning the rails. Cadets got out on deck early this morning to get briefed on their tasks for the day. Some cadets were at the bow prepping the lines, while others were at the stern doing the same job.
A fast rescue boat was prepared and lowered to drop off a group of cadets to assist with the mooring line. Once we took on the pilot and had the tugs attached, we were ready to arrive. We then slowly sailed towards our berth: we are moored along Pier 2C. The process occurred quickly. However, once the lines were out and we were attached to the pier liberty was one step closer. Once we had our mooring lines out the gangway lowered, the banner was hung, and the agent was brought on board. Once this happened we were cleared for liberty.
For some of the cadets this will be their first time to Hawaii. They are very excited and looking forward to what the state has in store for them. Others were excited to be on land after a long time at sea. We are all excited and look forward to what the island has in store for us.
