Courses in the Department of Culture and Communication introduce and develop the following skills, which correspond to the Institutional (ILO) and General Education (GELO) program outcomes listed here:
C&C Program Learning Outcomes
- Clearly express ideas in writing. (ILO A, GELO 1)

C&C Advanced Writing Student Learning Outcomes
(EGL 300, 301: GWAR)
In addition to the outcomes for A2 Basic Writing above, students will, at a minimum of "Milestone 3" of the AACU Written Communication VALUE rubric:
SLO 1: Demonstrate a thorough consideration of context, audience, and purpose that
is responsive to the assigned writing task.
SLO 2: Develop and use appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to explore ideas
within the context of the discipline.
SLO 3: Demonstrate skillful use of use of source material to support ideas within
the discipline and genre of the writing task.
SLO 4: Demonstrate consistent use of conventions particular to the writing task, including
organization, content, presentation, formatting, and stylistic choices.
SLO 5: Use language that skillfully conveys meaning to readers with clarity and fluency.
NOTE: A final grade of C- or above is requred to certify GWAR for graduation.
