ANXIETY MANAGEMENT

 

FearTools - Anxiety Aid 

This app is evidence-based and designed to aid in combating anxiety. Tools include thought journaling and reframing, exposure techniques, relaxation techniques, and includes an anxiety self-report measure.

 

MindShift 

MindShift includes practices to help you relax, activities that encourage you to develop more beneficial ways of thinking, coping strategies around anxiety experiences, and anxiety checklists around certain situations (e.g., test anxiety, social fears, and letting go of perfectionism).

 

Self-help Anxiety Management

App includes information related to anxiety and how to better manage anxious experiences. It provides guided relaxation exercises, activities that teach coping techniques and strategies, and an anxiety tracker.

This customizable app helps you build a routine of positive habits by setting personal goals, tracking your progress, and providing reminders when you need to complete something.

Recovery Record: Eating Disorder Management

This app is intended to aid in the recovery process of an eating disorder, but can also be used if you have body image concerns. This app allows you to record meals, access body-related affirmations, track your process, and customize meal plans and coping tactics. This app can also send progress information to your health providers.

MAINTAINING SAFETY & SEXUAL ASSAULT RECOVERY

 

Circleof6

This app allows you to program 6 of your trusted friends/families into your circle. If you are ever in a risky situation you can discreetly tap your phone twice and a pre-programmed alert with your location will be sent to your circle. The app also provides access to safety hotlines and an online sexual health resource.

 

DoD Safe Helpline

Originally designed for individuals in the military, this app provides tools and support to help individuals manage the short and long-term effects of sexual assault. There is also a feature where users can chat in the Safe HelpRoom with other survivors.

MOOD MANAGEMENT

 

CBT Guide to Depression Self-Help

App includes audio information about depressive symptoms, a depressive symptoms tracker, a cognitive diary, and relaxation and calming exercises.

 

MoodTools 鈥 Depression Aid

This app was designed for individuals with depressive symptoms, but can be used by everyone. It includes information about depression, activities to help combat depressive symptoms, a thought diary, and a symptoms tracker.

 

T2 Mood Tracker

This app allows you to track your mood throughout the day and come to better understand how certain events or experiences may be impacting your mood. It comes pre-loaded with 6 tracking topics but can be customized to meet your needs.

 

T2 Virtual Hope Box

The Virtual Hope Box provides simple tools to help individuals with coping, relaxation, distraction, and positive thinking. It can be customized with personal pictures, favorite quotes, music, videos of friends, and more.

This app was created based on the principles of Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). It helps in self-harm recovery by providing tools that 鈥渄istract,鈥 that implement 鈥渃omfort鈥 instead of harm, that will help you 鈥渆xpress yourself,鈥 and that provide 鈥渟afe alternatives to self-harm.鈥

SLEEP AIDS

 

Rain Rain Sleep Sounds

Dozens of sleep sounds are available and you can tailor them to make your own sleep soundtrack. This app is helpful if you have trouble relaxing before falling asleep.

 

Sleep Cycle Alarm

This intelligent alarm tracks your sleep and wakes you during your lightest sleep cycle which aids you in feeling refreshed upon waking. 

STRESS MANAGEMENT/ RELAXATION

 

Calm 鈥 Meditate, Sleep, Relax

App includes programs to teach you how to meditate through guided imagery and relaxation exercises that aim to lower stress, lessen anxiety, and improve sleep.

 

FitnessBuilder 

Physical activity has been shown to have positive effects on psychological wellbeing and this app provides helpful exercise tips, workout videos and charts, and an exercise tracker.

This app provides a training program that aims to reduce anxiety and build self-compassion utilizing mindfulness and meditative practices in 鈥渂ite-size鈥 pieces to accommodate a busy life.

 

Smiling Mind

Mindfulness meditation made easy with this app which provides imaginative wellness practices for different age group and also includes a feeling tracker.

 

MyLife Meditation: Meditate, Relax, & Sleep Better

This app provides meditations and relaxation recommendations based off your current mood. The app鈥檚 primary focus is building skills around mindfulness, meditative practices, and building compassion.

A Friend Asks - Jason Foundation

This app provides information, tools, and resources to help a friend (or yourself) who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts. The app contains information such as warning signs, Dos and Don鈥檛s, and what to do to get help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is also one click away.

 

My3 - Support Network

This app helps you create a plan of safety around your suicidal thoughts and allows you to be able to quickly contact three people you trust during times when you feel concerned for your safety.

 

MindShift: A great tool for anxiety available on iPhone and Andoid, developed by Anxiety BC. It teaches relaxation skills, develops new thinking, and suggests healthy activities. Designed for youth but useful to anyone.

PTSD Coach: Helpful for symptoms of combat-related post-traumatic stress, this trusted military app has been downloaded over 100,000 times for iPhone and Android. Featuring versions in French-Canadian and more.

BellyBio Interactive Breathing: Wonderful biofeedback device that monitors your breathing and plays sounds reminiscent of ocean waves when you relax. Great for anxiety and stress. iPhone only.

Positive Activity Jackpot: A unique augmented reality tool that uses the functionality of a smartphone in an innovative way. Combines a professional behavioral health therapy for depression called pleasant event scheduling (PES) with activities available in the user's location, mapped with GPS. For Android only.

Take a Break! Guided Meditations for Stress Relief: From the excellent developers of relaxation apps at Meditation Oasis comes this free app to quickly recharge. Listen to a seven-minute Work Break or 13-minute Stress Relief recording with or without music or nature sounds. iPhone or Android.

Virtual Hope Box: The VHB provides help with emotional regulation and coping with stress via personalized supportive audio, video, pictures, games, mindfulness exercises, positive messages and activity planning, inspirational quotes, coping statements, and other tools.

Breathe2Relax: Breathe2Relax is a portable stress management tool. Breathe2Relax is a hands-on diaphragmatic breathing exercise.  Capitalizing on touch-screen technology, a user can record their stress level on a 'visual analogue scale' by simply swiping a small bar to the left or to the right. Breathe2Relax uses state-of-the-art graphics, animation, narration, and videos to deliver a sophisticated, immersive experience for the user.

Tactical Breather: The Tactical Breather application can be used to gain control over physiological and psychological responses to stress.  Although these techniques were developed primarily for the warfighter during intense combat situations, anyone can benefit from the ideas taught in this application to help with nearly any stressful situation in life.

Mindfulness Coach: Mindfulness Coach was designed to help Veterans, service members, and others learn how to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness means paying attention, on purpose, to whatever is going on in the present moment without passing judgment on it.

CBT-I Coach: Although this mobile app was originally developed for veterans working with a therapist in treating insomnia, the application also offers a variety of helpful advice on sleep hygiene as well as providing multiple relaxation techniques including guided imagery.
